🎨 A playable fairytale soaked in mystery, memory, and magic.
That’s the vision behind Bye Sweet Carole, the upcoming narrative horror experience from director Chris Darril — creator of Remothered and founder of Little Sewing Machine.

With an exclusive first look at the haunting character known only as The French, PlayStation players are invited into a hand-drawn nightmare inspired by classically animated films and psychological horror legends.

🐇 Meet “The French” — A Flame-Obsessed Mystery

Discovered sneaking into Bunny Hall by the game’s protagonist Lana, The French is a strange figure surrounded by flames. Are they a friend? Foe? Or something in between? Their connection to the missing Carole raises more questions than answers — and you’ll uncover the truth as you guide Lana through her twisted fairytale.

✏️ From Animation to Interactive Fiction

According to Darril, the journey began with a glitch — an accidental character model during Remothered's early development. That whimsical mistake sparked a visual idea rooted in nostalgia: pastel-toned princesses wandering dark, ominous lands.

Inspired by horror classics like Resident Evil, Clock Tower, and artistic indies like Gris, the team shaped a game that looks like a fairytale but plays like a slow-burning psychological thriller.

🎬 Cinematic Design Meets Classic Animation

Bye Sweet Carole features frame-by-frame hand-drawn animation, where even a single missing frame could break the magic. Every scene is meticulously crafted to feel like a moving painting — a true labor of love, made possible by modern tech and timeless artistic spirit.

The animations shift from concept to storyboards, rough drafts to color, and are exported differently depending on whether they’re used in cutscenes or gameplay. Collaboration and careful planning echo the traditional film pipeline.

🎧 Immersive Audio & Voice Cast

Sound design plays a major role too. Composer Luca Balboni returns to score the project, creating a moody atmosphere that supports the visual storytelling. Voice talents include:

  • Lani Minella (known for The Last of Us)
  • Elsie Lovelock as Lana
  • Rossa Caputo in the Italian dub

🛍️ Physical and Digital Editions Available

Whether you prefer digital convenience or the nostalgic joy of a physical disc, Bye Sweet Carole has you covered. Pre-orders are available at major retailers for disc editions, and the game will also launch on the PlayStation Store later this year.

🌒 A Modern Fairytale for Grown-Up Gamers

Crafted for those who grew up with classically animated cartoons and now crave deep, emotional storytelling, Bye Sweet Carole blends childhood wonder with gothic horror.

It’s sad. It’s peaceful. It’s unforgettable.

🕯️ Coming soon to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
